Complexity in Ecology

Our research focus is the study of complexity in ecology. We apply tools from fields outside of biology, such as engineering or physics, to uncover patterns in empirical data and explore their ecological and evolutionary consequences.

Recent highlights:

December 2012 - Ross M. Thompson and many others (including Daniel B. Stouffer) publish a Review in TREE about food webs as a tool for understanding the structure and function of biodiversity.

March 2012 - Daniel B. Stouffer, Marta Sales-Pardo, M. Irmak Sirer, and Jordi Bascompte publish an article in Science about the evolutionary conservation of species' roles in food webs.
