Our research focus is the study of complexity in ecology. We apply tools from fields outside of biology, such as engineering or physics, to uncover patterns in empirical data and explore their ecological and evolutionary consequences.
Recent highlights:
March 2012 -
Daniel B. Stouffer, Marta Sales-Pardo, M. Irmak Sirer, and Jordi Bascompte publish an article in Science about the evolutionary conservation of species' roles in food webs.
September 2011 -
Serguei Saavedra, Daniel B. Stouffer, Brian Uzzi, and Jordi Bascompte publish an article in Nature about the species-level consequences of nestedness in mutualistic networks.
